Default Civilization V Announced

Quote:
2K Games has announced that Sid Meier’s Civilization V is currently in development at Firaxis Games for PC. Civilization V looks to reinvigorate the classic turn-based strategy genre with an all-new engine built from the ground-up for the latest installment. In the game, first images of which are viewable here, players will be introduced to an entirely new combat system, deeper diplomatic interactions and a cavalcade of expanded features that aim to deliver a fully immersive experience for players on their quest to become the “greatest ruler the world has ever known.”

^Same. I'm kinda surprised since I just finished listening to a podcast with an interview with Sid Meier. He said he was devoting all his attention to FB and never mentioned a Civ 5 in the works.

While I think the Civilization series is great do we really need a fifth iteration of it? "Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri II" would be a better announcement imo.

I think we do because no one else is able to create a game of this caliber. Ive played a ton of similar games and I always get bored after a day or two. Civ has the addictiveness nailed.

I really hope Meier will learn a little from a fan mod : Rise of Mankind. It really gave a new life to Civ IV
