Default Strange "Copy Protection" problem
I have COD4, CODWaW installed on my PC, along with other games.

I hadn't played COD4 for some time, but when I went to play it recently I kept getting this message.....

...." Please insert the correct CD in the DVD Drive and restart" ..and this with the CD that came with the game! I also had this same problem with COD Waw and Rainbow Six Vegas 2. ..Rainbow Six Vegas1, Crysis, and Far Cry 2 runs perfectly well.

Having Googled this problem it seems that some games have "Copy Protection" installed on them. Its a bit rich when you consider that I have actually payed for these games!

I have tried "No Cd Cracks" etc, but up to now nothing seems to work. Activision will not even answer my questions on this matter!

Anyone else had this type of problem?..And how did you fix it if you did please?

Have you changed anything on your computer (new hardware?)

Have you tried reinstalling the games?

My guess would be a virtual drive installed from a game you didnt pay for, possibly creating a conflict?

Virtual drive sofware does have legitmate uses as well, but the copy protection crap just assumes everyone is a thief, as do the publishers of these games.

Thats true and so do torrents, newsgroups, and ratio ftp but generally I jump to conclusions when when I hear those terms.

No. The computer is just 7 months old! The DVD drive is a Sony Optiarc AD-7200S, which came with the computer.

Yes several times...same result unfortunately.

And all the games I buy are from genuine retailers..never had a pirate game in my life! But the way this is going I'm never going to buy any game again..genuine or pirate!

Also I have never had a virtual drive! I wouldn't know how to get, or install one!

Hamachi maybe, that gave me issues with at least one game.
