I just wanted to add that the hole Xbox 360 has better online than the PS3 is actually kind of inaccurate. 2 games that come to mind off the top of my head Warhawk and Modern Warfare 1 both had dedicated servers were as the 360 is strictly p2p servers.

I have all 3 consoles and i find i use my PS3 the most because its more like a PC in the sense that I am not paying a premium to play online, a service that has been free since the begging of time.

I still like the single player campaigns in Halo and Gears of War, just as much as like i like the single player campaign in Killzone 2, Resistance and Metal Gear Solid 4.

Ultimately since i have all three consoles the choice is quite easy. If its available on PC, I always get the game on PC first, If its not Available on PC i will buy it for PS3 second, and if its an Xbox 360 exclusive i will buy it for Xbox 360.

I would have to say that my PC game collection is the biggest, follow second by my Playstation 3 and than third by my Wii and in last place is my Xbox 360.

I refuse to pay to play games online unless they're an MMORPG. So my Xbox 360 gets less love than my Nintendo Wii which is pretty sad when you think about it. Oh well, just means Microsoft has gotta step it up a notch.

Well Here's how I see it.

PS3 Has some good games, but not too many and the ones that are "good" to me are mediocre so make sure you like the games on the PS3 (or xbox) before purchasing. There aren't many games on the PS3 that I find I could play a lot of, you may feel this way for xbox games. Pick a console only if you know there's a bunch of games you'll like on it.

PS3 is better for home theater because of the blu-ray player plus the PS3 also has free online play. However, I like the 360 live system more over the PS3's. Not sure about you, but most of my friends have xbox 360's over PS3's... The xbox 360 is a very popular console here in Canada, and way more people have it and play online in North America than the PS3 (by quite a bit) so I'd say it's the more sociable console. You'll probably have more 360 users in your circle of friends than ps3 users (atleast with me). So if you wanna be a social gamer (as that picture shows) you'll probably want to pick the 360.

Also, as mentioned the Xbox 360 has a 35% fail rate, but Microsoft has extended their warranties and few people out of the mass will get screwed over by this.

It's hard to measure value, but the 360 is cheaper than the PS3, and you can get good bundles. Traditionally microsoft has Holiday bundles which throw in two decent games with the console. I'd recommend waiting for this promotion to come out (should be soon).

Well ok since I actually read your post now, I'd say get 360 if you have more friends with a 360 because most NHL10'ers are on 360, with racing you got Project Gotham and Forza and FPS is pretty much the same on both. Better online experience but you gotta pay for it. If you have a bunch of friends with PS3's though, I'd get that. Free online, Blu-ray player, integrated wireless, bigger HD (and expandable), bluetoothe, etc. Buy new for the warranty unless you find a sweet ass deal. 360's are only 199 and PS3 slim is 299. Maybe wait for boxing day deals?

I too am perhaps in the market for a console for Christmas to go with the upcoming LCD TV I will be buying shortly.

I have always leaned towards the xBox 360 because of the potential compatibility of it's peripherals with my PC (controllers and wireless). I don't own any Blue Ray disks and don't plan on switching from DVD any time soon (I won't pay 35$ for a movie, no matter how many hours of extra crap are on the thing.)

But I am open to read this discussion.

How about paying $60 a year to play the games online that you already bought? Or spending $99 for a wireless adapter for 360? Or $150 for a 120gb HDD?
