You don't have to re purchase. I went on EA support live chat last week and explained that I lost my key. Within 10 mins I got my key back. You will need your info like 2142 sign in name which ever one you set up for the game. They were very helpful and quick

Ps: they will also email you a copy of the chat transcript with the key in it

Yeah, haha good luck with that. I couldn't install my game (BF2) anymore because the game disk was so scratched up from me refusing to use a no-cd patch... So I contact EA for a new set of disks since the ones I had were too scratched up to use anymore. I gave them a scanned copy of the original receipt (dated in 2004, from staples), a picture of the 3 cd's (front and back) and a scanned copy of the back of the manual where the cd key was. You know what they told me?

If you'd guessed that they blew me off, you'd be right. I ended up first pirating the ISO's and then going out of my way to buy a new set of disks (wasn't sold in big box retail stores anymore) from a used games store (A&C games, downtown TO), just so I could play a game I paid for.

EA... for shame.

Why did you go out and buy the game discs again? Why not just use the ISO? That's a case where it actually may be legal to have a copy of the ISO since you already own the game discs... And as long as you have a legit key why not use an ISO?? You could burn it to DVD if you really wanted to... My original Starcraft BW was scratched to shit too and wouldnt install so downloaded the ISO and put in my original SC key and voila. Don't see anything wrong with that. It's pretty much a guarantee that some day your discs will be too scratched to use. Unless you keep them stored away untouched forever in a safe somewhere. And why would they ship you new discs for something that is out of there control (you scratching the discs)? That would be alot of work for them to do if everyone that had scratched discs asked for new ones every couple of years and not to mention shipping fees and cost of the discs. What they SHOULD do however is allow you to register your games and have their ISOs available for download on their site. And IIRC correctly even if you do purchase and download from their EA store, you only get 3 years access to the game file unless you pay a price premium to have access forever (if that's even an option I can't seem to remember if that's true or not hehe)

I forgot to mention that the ISO was slightly corrupted in that one of the maps wouldn't install properly (zatar wetlands) and would crash the game every time I tried to load it.
