Operation Flashpoint 2 Dragon Rising [PC]

Anyone played this game yet? I've been playing it off and on for the past 5 days. And I'd have to say I'm quite impressed with the optimization that Codemasters did on this game. Runs smooth even on my mid end system.

I just have a gripe against the GRAW style command menu. I can't move and shout orders at the same time. And the weapon change time for SMAWs, AT, and AA launchers take wayyy too long. But I guess thats realistic enough.

The mission where you need to take out the 2 APCs and seize the airfield is just crazy. I need to single handedly take out the two APCs becuase my AI AT soldier is busy engaging something over 500m Away...

All and all its ok but not as polished as I had hoped. Oh yeah whats the deal with being able to take out a gunship with a few M4 shots....

I played it for all of 5 minutes after which i uninstalled it as i didn't like it (no game crash tutorial or anything)

Yes its really annoying that you have to learn on the fly. It randomly stops your action to give you stupid pop ups. Its like playing Moderwarfare on a russian spam site

I was hoping to read good things about this game, almost bought it but not sure now.
Looked like it had potential.

It does but I'm peeved that there's no jets. Oh yeah, took out an AH64 with a rifle...unscoped. And we're not talking fluke here, we're talking 90% success rate

How is the online play?
Is there alot of people playing online?

There are a lot online and the game is great. I would recommend it. It is a hard game though and some missions they give you barely enough time to complete. I am a guy that just likes to sit back and pick people off. AI is decent enough for single player so that is good. btecanada is right it is easy to take out a helicoter but thats how it is in real life. Helicopters can go down with just one well placed bullet. They are not strong and are not meant to be fired upon.

But the way the choppers crash is soo crappy compared to how they did it in Arma, what with the crazy spinning, and kicking up scary amount of dirt. But I have to admit this game was really really well optimized, I'm running it on a dual core 3.0ghz, with ddr2 2gb ram, and a 8600GTS 256mb. At high resolution.

Does anyone know how to get a sniper rifle for the second mission???

Anyways, it is quite fun. You can Stealth, Run'n'Gun, etc...
