Most Games for Windows come with 360 controller compatibility out of the box, I have wireless controller and dongle to go with it.

All of them do actually; 360 controller compatibility is a requirement for Games For Windows certification.

Wired 360 controller gets my vote. I like it better than any PC gamepad I've tried. Plus you can get them hella cheap, considering they're made en mass.

I cannot understand how console players get used to playing a FPS game on a gamepad. Madness.

Not for FPS games...
I want it for GTA4 and Battlestations: Pacific.
I prefer mouse+keyboard for FPS.

Definitely not me. I only use my 360 controller on my PC for third-person games and the occasional racing game. Not sure why I prefer third-person games with a gamepad; just always have.

Is there any reason to get an xbox360 "for Windows" controller?

Probably because it's probably the gamepad with most modern game support.

Because it's pretty much the best PC controller you can get.

Opposed to the regular 360 controller? I don't think there is any difference between the two. I imagine Microsoft just markets some of them like that to let people know they work with PC's.
