Default BF2 Sound card recommendations

Hey all!

I play mostly just BF2 nowadays and I wanted a good PCI-E sound card to go with it. Any recommendations?

NCIX.com - Buy Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-FI Titanium 7.1 Channel 24-BIT PCI-E Sound Card Retail - 70SB088000004 In Canada.

Is that good?

What about this one?

NCIX.com - Buy Creative Labs PCI-E Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme Audio - 70SB104000000 In Canada.

Cost is kinda important so if there isn't much difference I wont really bother.

Also, I'm looking for a good pair of headphones to go with it as well. Something with a mic if possible.

I don't notice a difference, but maybe I'm just ignorant.

My last build had a discrete sound card, a SB Live 5.1 or something like that. This time around I'm using the integrated sound that is in my P5Q-Deluxe.... I don't notice a difference.

Also, what name you play under and what servers?

HWC-Cowboy and I usually just play on the servers that have the best ping.

I mostly play on Lan w/ my GF though, its a lot more fun. She's my medic

Anyways.

I still need a set of headphones for my setup, mine just broke.

there's a zalman set from NCIX which looks very interesting.

NCIX.com - Buy Zalman ZM-RS6F 5.1 Channel Equivalent 6 Speaker Real Surround Headset W/ Microphone - ZM-RS6F+M In Canada.

Stay away from the Xtreme Audio. The Titanium should be OK if you require a PCI-E card (there's a OEM version that's cheaper)

Get an Asus Xonar DX. And get a pair of headphones and a mic, not a headset. If you want good audio you need a decent set of cans which headsets are not.

For BF2??? I don't know if you've already bought a sound card yet but if you haven't, you should be able to find an Audigy 2 ZS for cheap and that should suffice. That's what I was using back in the BF2 days. There's even one in the BST forums:

WTS: 3xMotherboard, 1xCPU, 2xRAM, 1xSound Card etc. PST

It's an old card but is still great if you're just using an analog sound output. If you're using vista, you'll have to download the daniel k vista drivers since creative did not support the card in vista. Not sure if those drivers will work with 7 though, if you're using it.
