ok...

well If dx10 was your goal, some research before buying would allow you to find out that dx10 was pretty much a failure and isn't that necessary for gaming...

there is still a long time to wait before games are release and use the potential of dx11, so you probably did not waste nothing at all investing for your current build (which is what, by the way?)

I wouldn't sweat it. By the time DX11 is needed, you'll likely have gone through at least one more upgrade cycles.

Just game with what you have now, take advantage of the cool games out now and when the 6 months or so past when dx11 gear and games are out, sell your card and buy a dx11 card. No sweat. But IMO DX11 when it comes out wont be a HUGe priority as the cards we have now would play the games that come out in the future good enough to have fun.

if DX10 isn't necessary 6 months after it was released, what makes you think DX11 will be necessary 6-8 months from now?

Microsoft is really trying to sell dx11 as a worthwhile upgrade with many improvements that developers will actually WANT to take advantage of. Although dx11 wont be necessary since developers will most likely still have a dx10 and maybe even dx9 mode, there should be performance increases and much better visuals with the jump from 10 to 11.

Any idea if we know what kind of improvements MS is boasting? I'd be interested in a good read.

Google or bing is your friend. They are the gateway to all knowledge.

I wouldn't worry about DX11 for some time. As others have said, DX10 never was really used that often and for the foreseeable future DX11 will probably be the same. The primary reason is that consoles can't utilize it, as well as obviously still a large portion of PC owners (Even a lot of those who upgraded to a DX10 card still only use XP). The result is, at best, a few minor touches here and there, nothing dramatically different built on it's own architecture. Even the PC-focused developers like Blizzard, Valve, etc. are seeing the writing on the wall to the changing PC market and make their games to scale down more effectively, not up, so I doubt we'll see much use of DX11 until the next console generation starts.

I was also thinking about this, I'm awaiting the reviews of the new DX11 ATI cards (i'm guessing everyone is) but if there not up to much then i think i'll grab some HD4890s on the cheap after the HD58 launch for some toasty xfire action.
