For those of us [s]old[/s] mature enough to have been privy to some of the classic games of yore, you may be interested in the Elite Bastards "A-Z of Classic Games". Part 1 is up and available for your reading pleasure here.

The only retro games in my lifetime, because I'm still fairly young (21), were games like Lemmings, Pushover and the id Software and Apogee software titles. Jazz Jackrabbit was AMAZING, along with Halloween Harry, Hocus Pocus, the Duke Nukem sidescrollers, etc. Those were really good times.

Same here. But I didn't own it. It was my dads friend that had it. We have a pic of the two of them kicking back with a couple of beers (the old school stubby bottles) and an ashtray full of butts. Man, that was a looonngg time ago. It was a Radio Shack model. Pong lol. What was the AA like back then eh?

Check out Abandonia if you want to relive some incredible games of the past. That site has been a great oasis for me during some dry times in recent game development.

Elite was an absolutely amazing game for the time. I'm sure I put an average of 4 hrs / night for at least 3 months into that game. (Some sessions were 10 hrs long.... :) ).

Unlike games of today where they avoid frustrating game play at all costs, the hardest part about the game was probably docking at the individual space stations. It really was nail biting trying to get into the stations, and that made saving up enough money to get an auto docker super sweet!!!! :)
