Default Proposal: Hardware Canucks Race'07/GTR Evolution/STCC multiplayer racing

Hi HWC. I want to propose a Hardware Canucks race session/season, but, first, I need to discuss with the community how well it would work in the following criteria:
  • latency and who hosts
  • course selection or election
  • preferred car classes
  • driving aids and flag rules
  • weather conditions
  • damage modeling
  • possibility a points-based championship for Hardware Canucks that is fair for all levels of experience
I'll need the help of somebody with any one of the games in the title, preferably the more popular Race'07 + GTR Evolution expansion pack... but input from everybody is openly welcomed.

Here, we'll be discussing and electing a standard to use for all sessions if we have more than one race. This is discussion is open to all members of the HWC community, including those who have the game and those who don't but are still interested in participating. It's important that everybody contributes on the matter so we can have a fair and enjoyable experience for everyone!

I mentioned in another thread that I'm interested, but as of yet haven't decided on what direction to go with on a wheel. I do on the other hand have an old (not sure on the interface... it's either serial, game port, or parallel) wheel that I know can be made to work under XP just for shits and giggles.

As far as games go... I vote for either something that's freeware/opensource just to get our feet wet, or barring that, something that's delivered via digital format (steam gets my vote) so that folks don't have to hunt through stores to find it.

As far as servers go.... I'd offer one of my rigs if it would work well, but I'm way the hell out on the east coast so that might be an issue as far as latency goes. Maybe some regional servers would be the best idea as that would solve both latency and time zone issues.

I'd suggest taking it slow at first. Rather than trying to set up a season right off the bat, why don't we see what kind of participation you can get for some ad hoc games?

Hi guys. I had in mind a game that is nearer to simulation. The reason for that is in reply to the HWC members who have a Logitech G25 wheel set or recently bought one through the Dell special. I encourage all recommendations, including Trackmania and Grid, because it's up to the whole community to decide

I wouldn't mind some GRID.

I imagine quite a few people have this game that have ATI video cards since NCIX was giving it out for quite a while. I think even priated copies would work since I've never entered a key

I must say though, I'm a rather aggressive racer so I'd probably end up smashing up everyone
