Default What kind of frame rates can I expect on WoW

Here are my computer specs :

CPU: Pentium D @ 3.40ghz each core

Ram:2gb ddr @ I think 550mhz or somthing

Motherboard:Asus P5PE-VM

Hardrive: 200gb sata (not sata2) 7500rpm

Graphics card: GeForce 9800 GT 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 ( Newegg.ca - ZOTAC ZT-98GEY3P-FSR GeForce 9800 GT 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards )

So ya there we go I would test it out myself but I am waiting on the graphics card. Couldn't wait to test :P

You'll be fine. That GPU is even overboard for WoW and the rest of your system. I believe that board can take C2D with a BIOS flash, so I would have balanced between a new CPU and GPU, as the CPU will be a bottleneck in your configuration.

Did you pay that price for that 9800GT? You can get the GTS250 for the same price and it's a better card. Same with the HD4850 around $125. For WoW, though, you could have gotten away with something like the 9600GT at NCIX on special for $65.

This is the closest thing i an find on NCIX at around the same price by nvidia NCIX.com - Buy EVGA E-GEFORCE 9800GT Superclocked 55NM 650MHZ 512MB 1.9GHZ GDDR3 Dual DVI-I HDTV Out Video Card - 512-P3-N977-TR In Canada.

Also I can't even use that card because it needs 26 amps on 12V mine only has 18 amps on 12V I don't even think i can use the zotac now that I think about it... great another 150-200 dollars down the drain for a psu.

Wow is going to be a piece of cake for this system, mostly the GPU. You may only have low fps if you have the latest expansion, there is some place known to be laggy, no matter what hardware you have.

I play WoW and let me tell you this, I ran it on my Athlon XP 2600, 512MB and a 6600GT AGP... You have to consider that game is 4 years old. But I my computer runs that game at around 250FPS in the less crowded places.

The crucial thing was the ram issues back in the days. I had 512MB and I was lagging almost every big cities... but now with 4GB it's a breeze. If you are installing Vista I would suggest to bump the RAM to 4GB.

A 8800GT could ace that game too. (Find one around here for cheap).

Get a ATI Radeon 4770, it will give more than what you need.

See I am thinking, should I get a new power supply and a mid range graphics card or should I buy a good power supply that will last (name brand 750W or higher) and a good graphics card? Because eventually I want to buy a new mother board (One that can support better ram like ddr2-ddr3 and can support more then 4gb unlike the one i have now at 2 GB max) I also hope i can keep my old processor because it may be pretty outdated but a Pentium D at 3.4ghz a core can whip Wow! Also I don't want to buy a new psu and gpu if i already have them:P.

The 620HX is going for $99 on special right now at NCIX. That's over $100 off for a top performing PSU. It's also highly underrated, and reviewers say it's more in the 700W range for stable output.

It may be overkill but i don't want to do any upgrading to it for a good 5 years that should handle mobo/ram/cpu/hdd/cdd/and gpu upgrades fine though

You don't want to upgrade it (PSU?) for 5 years? In 5 years I have had to upgrade my PSU 3 times, so if you get a 620 today, don't necessarily expect that to be enough in 5 years time.

Unless it dies I won't buy a new one that's what I mean. I have had lots of power supplies last 5 years. Well ok only 2 still they should. I have never been one to like wasting money on trends I enjoy durability and performance. Which is why I hate buying new technology until it has been tested for a few months.
