I can't believe there is no preload on Steam for this? Truthfully I am busy tomorrow after work anyways so it won't matter to me too much. I'll just go home, start up Steam and let it take its time. I hope Steam is not going to choke for everyone on this 11GB, day zero download though. What a way to piss people off if it does. :\

they will probably do it like most of the recent releases and allow preloading a couple hours before. It is also possible that 2k doesn't want them to preload.

A couple hours before, before what? It's Feb 8th, tomorrow is launch day. As for 2K not wanting Steam to preload I seriously doubt it considering they have released the game already in some states (NY IIRC) and SE pre-orders started shipping last week to consumers (not retail stores) last week too.

i wasn't expecting anything different than what happened with mass effect 2.

doesn't bother me too much anyways, i saved 15 dollars with steam through 4 pack, so if i need to wait a couple hours i will.

They started preloading a couple games 3 hours before release.

What does that mean? 3 hours before Best Buy opens, 3 hours before midnight, 3 hours before business hours in Geneva? IMO preload means before the local day of release so

1. It will balance the load on the server over time before the launch.
2. Allow a customer to install the game just like they put the disc in their drive when they get home from work on launch day instead of waiting n hours before being able to play.

Borderlands preloaded nice and early as have others. To begin downloading a couple hours before Valve's ETA is not a preload.

Whatever... I am just surprised they choose to do this to us and themselves, that's all.

I was surprised about that too! I thought for sure I'd be able to dl it last night but that was a no go. I started it this morning before I left for work, it should be done by the time I get home.

It is always based on Valve's release time which is generally 15:00 EST/12:00 PST. I agree it doesn't make sense they wait so long, but all the digital distributors operate on that time.
