Default Co-op RTS/TBS Games?

Not a big RTS guy myself but I want to play with a buddy so I'd like your feedback on which are the best RTS games we can do co-op online together. If we did versus he'd probably murder me every time or get bored taking it easy on me. Also swords and spells as opposed to WWII or sci-fi would be great. And they do not have to be really new games. I think his fave RTS is Shogun: Total War. Thanks mates!

Well there isn't many unless you want to do teams on skirmish map then pretty much all of them do that. Well the only game I can think of that does single-player co-op is Red Alert 3.

Do you do teams on a skirmish map against the AI or other players?

Company of Heroes is a very very fun one. Not massive maps or armies, so its a little more strategy and placement rather than just building huge bases.

Warcraft III can be played that way for PC, or if you both own XBOX360's , My cousin and I play Mercs 2 and Army of Two, for hours of great fun :)

AOE2 is pretty good as well.

Regards,
ST

I agree. I used to do this all the time with my friends and it was a blast. It will literally take hours to finish a game, and you better have a good strategy when gold runs out. I suggest you use hussars. AOE2 is really old now though.

If you don't mind older games, 2v6 in starcraft is also very fun and doable. I couldn't do it in warcraft 3 though. The AI is just too brutal in that game and it's too hard to turtle

Cool AOE2 sounds like a good candidate. I am liking the look of DAW2 as well, not sure if he'd go for it though? AOE2 is right up his alley. He loves medieval rts games. Old games don't matter, as I said his favourite game is Shogun TW from 8-9 years ago.
