Default Good Half-Life 2 mods?

I got myself the orange box last weekend, and I just finished everything today (I think HL2 has become my new favourite single player FPS) so I'm looking for some good source mods to try out. I've tried out Goldeneye Source, It's nowhere near to being finished but I'm really looking forward to it. Black Mesa Source also looks great and apparently will be released in 2009. Garry's Mod looks great too, might pick that up someday. What mods have you been playing recently/are looking forward to playing?

HL2Coop is awesome if you have some friends to play with.
Merciless Development - HL2Coop Project

Also Synergy which is similar, but on Steam, however you need Episode 2 for a lot of the levels.

if you're looking for multiplayer mods, try these:

insurgency INSURGENCY: Modern Infantry Combat semi-realistic marine vs iraqi insurgent combat) good if you're into realism combat. very frustratingly difficult otherwise as its high damage weapons favor defence and tends to be a campfest. open ended maps tend to be too large for a 32 person server

dystopia Dystopia. A Cyberpunk Game for the Source Engine. futuristic cyper-punk combat game, sort of team fortess style with different classes, and with 2 battle fields on each map- the normal meatspace with weapons, and cyberspace where you hack into via terminals and do cyber combat and alter the map in meatspace to your team's advantage. client currently hasn't been updated for a long time and has crash issues, but devs are still working. extremely fun but lack of servers/players online recently

I got excited when i saw that someone was making golden eye for it, but i don't think they've come along any further since i tried it last year. riot act was pretty fun too. i played insurgency for a bit, but found it too slow and boring. Did the orange box include HL2 episode 1 and 2?

For online multi-player, Day of Defeat Source is probably my favorite mod for HL2. It's cheap and fun for hours. If you like counter strike, you will probably like DOD:S too. Make sure you try Counter Strike Source if you haven't already. I liked it better than Counter Strike 1.6

Minerva is definitely one of the best mods I've tried. Since you have the orange box, you should also try Portal and TF2.

I was not able to finish HL2. Got stuck at some kind of yard with a lot of fences and jumping headeaters. I killed everything, but could not climb up on to the roof to escape. Other route was thru container with electrical shockers. Tried couple of times, then I lost interest. Mostly counterstriking.

Hm, maybe that is that the part where you need to flip a switch, and a girder on a cable line swings into the shockers and breaks them. Then I think a door opens and you can proceed? IIRC it is when you have the fan boat.

if it was at the part before you get the fan boat you need to go through the container where the powerlines are shocking it.

Strider Mountain

A brand spankin new HL2 Mod pre-Release is out as of Feb 14th. You can play through 5 of the 15 levels. I haven't tried it yet but it sounds like something a bit different than the other jail break/fortress mods we've all played. Check it out.
