Any fans here?

I actually hated the sequels since they didn't bring enough "new" content.

count me in, one of the best strategy games of all time. Well actually rome was better probably, but the series is great. The combination of turn based empire building and real time combat is brilliant. I am eagarly awaiting the next installment.

I was a huge fan (well I guess I still am--I just don't play it much anymore); if you like it, you may want to look at Mount & Blade as well--it's somewhat complementary to Total War, with ane emphasis of not on ruling, but on fighting. You actually get a character that can raise troops (larger groups as your skills improve) and fight in battles, while commanding those troops. I've been playing that far more than Total War as of late.

I'll try Mount & Blade. In M:TW and M2:TW I found perect balance between RTS and TBS. Silly base building/"strategy map" in AOE series and frugality of Civ series really pissed me off. Can't wait till February release of E:TW. The only thing I am affraid of is idiotic DRM. Normal CD check is OK by me, but those new installation limitations/online validation crap can make me pirate it instead of buying it.
