Yes, I have figured that out (I remember having to do it on some Portal maps) but it isn't the easiest move. I wonder if there is a mod or something that allows you to jump like a normal person, lol.

I think this is the reason I didn't finish HL1 way back when, so anoyying to make some jumps. Another reason I love Borderlands: fall from any height=no damage. I'm a bit dissapointed teh jumping in BMS is the same way, but it's an amazing mod, it could pass as a full AAA game from back in 2004 when HL2 came out.
Enemies are crazy accurate on Normal too, can't imagine Hard.

Apperently, some have enabled a crouch-lock - to stay crouched after your release the crouch button. I never bothered to even see where it is in the options. though it might make things a bit easier.
EDIT:

Yah, I know what you mean. But once you get that silly jump mechanic down it becomes a less frustrating game. Unlike the original HL, Black Mesa at least might have some re-play value, for me anyway. :)

Look at all this excitement for a Half Life game that we've all already played. I wonder how excited people would be for a new half life game. Maybe somebody should suggest it.

A new Half Life Game = the second coming quite possible. I can see people shouting hallelujah from the rooftops the moment people come. but in a non religious way so possible even more.

Spoilers for those still playing.

Well I am getting much better at the crouch jump, almost to the point it isn't an issue anymore. However, I had the game crash for the first time yesterday and it corrupted the last two previous auto-saves. Now I have to go back 1/2 a level and play through again. I am back at the cliff part were you climb along all the ledges on the side of the cliff after just meeting the helicopter (the game crashed when I was way ahead of that in a building with the snipers and communications tower that you have to climb up after turning off the power).

Anybody else had this problem?

Well I finished the game last night. It was very enjoyable and a decent game. I did come across a point where the physics got screwed up and all the litter on the ground (bodies, guns, movable objects, etc) started to bounce around and the rockets/bolts would go right through targets (the rockets would fly around indefinitely and never blow up which was annoying!). A simple restart of the game fixed that. The programmers left the ending open for the missing level to be added so we will see if they ever manage to get that out as a DLC or something. The above comic is VERY true, especially on one of those last levels (the one with the lasers).

Who else finished?
