Just bought NFS Undercover today for benchmarking. Maybe someone can tell me: what is the allure of playing a game whose sole purpose is to run away from the police?

NFS Underground is an alright game. I couldn't really get into it. But I find it's best played with a game pad or wheel. It sucks playing it on a keyboard and mouse.

Its alot of fun, allows you experience the addrenelane of being in a car chase without having to do it in real life . That said from what I read NFS Undercover got it all wrong, so don't base your view of the series based on that game alone. NFS Most Wanted was the closest of the "later" games to achieve the feel of the originals.

If you want to get a feel for what made the series popular, play NFS 3 High Speed, NFS Hot Pursuit(the first one), and NFS Porshe Unleased, those 3 were the best of the series in my honest opinion(oh and in a couple of those, you could actually BE the police, unlock lambo cop cars, cheat codes to unlock and race as a dinosaur, etc, lots of crazy fun).

That all said and done, I finally picked up Left 4 Dead from FS today, lets see if the game was worth the $50 I spent!

I'm playing the social life game, something I haven't played in a few months.

Empire: Total War will be the only new game I will purchase.
I have no idea why people are buying exactly the same game again and again, just because the packaging and in-game monsters look slightly different.
As matter of fact the only FPS game I would buy - online multiplayer type (CS:S, BF2). But no good online multiplayer FPS are coming out lately...

I downloaded the demo but apparently its not actually a demo and is actually a benchmark
