I'll have to agree with rjbarker. When I first saw the benches for the 9800GTX I was like WTF. Usually a new series provides more frames. Didn't really budge at all. All it offered was a die shrink, and that's about it. Basically the 9 series was a rebrand of the 8 series to earn profit. Nothing special about the products at all.

The 9800GTX+ are generally faster than the 8800GTX, use less power, do it with 256MB less RAM, and are dirt cheap...as well as Folding 1000-1200ppd more than the 8800GTX/Ultra.

I'm talking about "raw speed" gaming..not Folding...and show me the numbers that backs up your statement that the 9800 GTX+ is "generally faster" than a 8800GTX...sorry my friend, that is false, I had the 8800GTX and was thinking of moving up to a 9 Series card, until I saw the Benches and realized it was downgrading.

FYI,
On my old 880GTX (single Card) / E8400 OC'd to 4.05 Ghz all on my old 22" monitor (native Res 1080 x ???):
1. Competed Bioshock - everything Maxed, did not see FPS dip below 60, lots of 90+
2. Competed Crysis - High Res "no AA" - seemed to average around 48 FPS

You'll be happy, just ensure you provide very good Case Cooling for the 8800GTX in SLI, as they do run warm!

I said generally...not always, and i didn't say it's faster than an 8800Ultra... but in some cases it is. If i were buying new(which i did), i think it's better to get the 9800GTX+, if you already have an 8800GTX.. no sense switching. Get ready to read!

legit reviews

firing squad

bit tech <--9800GTX+ vs. 8800Ultra

anandtech

tech report <--they used a 9800GTX-XXX to simulate a GTX+

tech powerup

After reading through all those, which won more...9800GTX+, or 8800GTX?

BTW...i didn't say the 8800GTX isn't a good card.

Fair enough...he said he already HAD the Card and wanted to know how it compared..not whether he should buy one or the other...
Its pointless to try n convince me that any 9 Series (other than 9800 GX2) is a faster Card than the other..

Alright.Tanker.I apologize, it appears that in some cases the 9800 GTX + does better the ole 8800GTX.....my mistake, please accept my apology. I really should have researched more prior to giving my opinion, with that said the "+" wasn't out yet when looking at the 9800 GTX Cards back a few months ago...
