Far Cry 2, one week.

This game was on my list but it has been getting more and more of my attention lately. I figured it for a decent sequel to far cry, sounds like they are really going for it. I hope it's not all pre launch hype, but the things I've been hearing so far are very promising. One review out already, gave it a 94%. PCGamer UK:

"The basis of Far Cry 2's story telling: Characters and situations are swapped via a software author, its responding to choices made by you the player. Its something that's been on the cards for some time - mostly in research projects - but this is the first high-profile game to use it.
Its nothing less than a revelation. What makes this procedural storytelling cool isn't that you get to play the game lots of times, and see new things happen, or do things in new ways, Its not even that it gives you stories to share, situations to compare with your friends. Its that the game just works and responds to your successes, failures and fuckups.
If you don't like what a guy is asking you to do, then don't do it... If you really like one of your buddies, you stick with him. When the situations force choices on you... By God, its incredible"

Have a look at the mp map editor it ships with:

I loaded it up last week as well, after that post on here about the 64bit updated graphics, they still look dated though.

Ya a little dated but it was 2004. For 2004 it's is cutting edge. Not everything was farcry, Doom 3 or HL2. For instance the Area 51 game that you can now download for free from Gamershell was released in 2005, and it's graphics do not hold a candle to Far Cry, even without HDR. Never mind that it has zero draw distances and you basically move from room to room with cutscenes in between.

Anyways there are so many good games coming out I am on the fence on what to get. Dead Space, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Mirror's Edge. I'll get them all eventually but I won't blow a wad on games I am not going to touch for months.

CRAP, Ubisoft is using a slightly altered version of EA's DRM. Yet anouter game I can not buy.

My principles may end up having my wallet love me but having me kill myself...

From all the vids and interviews with the creators of farcry 2 that i've seen it is being made so that it can still run on low end systems and still look good, not as good as high end system obviously but still good.
