Thanks for the input. Actually, I'm thinking maybe this one.

STAPLES | BUREAU EN GROS

Just one up on the HP dv5. Hopefully this will do it. It says out of stock on line, but I'm gonna phone the stores right now. There's two here in Red Deer.

I think I am going to skip FC2. Fallout 3 is shaping up to be the game of 2008.

Edit:

yes encorp I am interested to see single 8800 performance. thx :)
I'll try it out in the next day or so and let you know.

Who is laughing now?

Me and encorp, that's who.
I wonder if when I disable a few cores how much of a difference in performance I'll notice; the games specs are DEFINITELY CPU heavy; because the video card requirements are actually quite low while the cpu state 2.4ghz as MINIMUM.

But I may have to buy a laptop tonight. Would a laptop with a T5800 cpu, an Nvidia 512mb 9500GS, 4 GB of ram, and Vista 64 cut it? I just don't really know how the laptop cpu stacks up against desktop.

Well that CPU isn't bad and 4gb of Ram would be great; my only issue is how well any of the mobile cards will work - that being said the game dosn't seem to be really that GPU heavy as it is CPU heavy; it's fairly well optimized so far - you can definitely play it on that; you might miss out on some serious Eye Candy but it won't be -that- bad.

The 8600M/9600M GT is a great mobile card. I can play Assassin's Creed on my XPS M1530 with Shadows 1/3, Everything else 3/4 and it runs awesome at 1280x800.

Boo sorry to hear the stores are out of stock :(

That is pretty good news Squeetard. I finally found a place in Calgary that has the Acer Aspire 8930-6555 in stock for about $80 less than everyone else. So I think that is what I'm going to go with. I suppose that I'll need two copies of the game to play on home rig and on the road at the same time.

Acer Aspire 8930-6555 w/ Core 2 Duo P8400, 4GB, 320GB, Blu-ray, 18.4in WUXGA+ GeForce 9600M GT, Vista Home Premium 64-bit at Memory Express Computers

You'll definitely need to play below 1920x1080 but otherwise that's a good price on a Blu-Ray machine with mid-range graphics. But 18.4" whoa!?! I'd call that a borderline "mobile" computer. ;)

Installing now, can't wait to play

I watched the special edition features disc about how they made the game it it looks very entertaining. The creators look like they had alot of fun with the game and I really like some of the ideas they incorperated into that story.
