Default @#$@#!!! EA

Ok here's the story.

A month before the launch of Spore, I went on the EA Store website and pre-ordered a copy of the galatic edition. On Sept 7th, the game is launched in North America and I was expecting an email indicating that it was shipped. No such luck. The 8th rolls around and then the 9th. So on the 9th I decide to msg them through their customer support online form and ask them where my game is and when it might be shipped.

The 10th rolls around and no contact from EA. So I say &#!@! it and go to EB Games and low and behold they have a copy of the Galatic Edition, serveral of them. I ask the guy when they got them in and he told me on the 7th!!!! Here I am holding my d*ck in my hands waiting for EA to ship me my game and EB Games have had them on the 7th! So I bought it from EB Games. Went home, updated my support ticket telling EA to cancel my preorder because I went out and bought it at EB Games. Today I went to check my support ticket to see if they responded and my ticket is gone. They deleted it with no response and then I get an email saying my order was shipped WTF!!!

I will NEVER buy another EA game from their online Store! What a joke!

Hmmm I'm not sure why you would buy from their online store anyways... I'm not saying that they are justified in any way for not giving you better support, but I am saying that unless you really believe that something isn't going to be available quite easily at a local store when it comes out, why pre-order it?

I just think that usually it's cheaper and easier to get a product from a retailer then directly from the "manufacturer"

But hey, at least you got the game! Now hopefully you like it better then I did! (or it is really going to be crappy after how much you waited for it)

Pre orders are a COMPLETE scam. Production services and online distribution are fully able to distribute a game to people on the first day. What cracks me up is that even if you pre-order no company will ship BEFORE the release date so it arrives at your house on the day it's released, but they will ship to stores before hand so you can pick it up on the day. Pre orders serve a single purpose; imagine if you get 150,000 pre orders, which is not a lot by todays standards, now imagine those pre orders cost a minimum of $5.00 dollars, x 150k = 750 thousand dollars; that the company gets, sticks in the bank and collects interest on the entire time they develope a game. Now you know why companies don't mind postponing games from time to time; they get to hold onto those pre orders longer heh.

I'm no conspiracy theorist; it's just that I find pre-order serves no purpose unless you actually have no plan or care to go out and get the game yourself and don't care when it arrives.

Sorry about your luck no_pulse!

It's the same story as for who knows how many blokes pre-ordered Crysis. EA has grown too big for a healthy and legitimate industry.

Well i pre-ordered Halo3 from futureshop and its release was midnight sunday i had it in my mail box Monday at 12 am i didnt have to pay anything extra just the regular price minus 10 dollars was some kind of deal so it was hella good. So i thought it was worth it unlike sum special people waiting in line to get in a couple hours ahead of me. I would never order from EA store either and yea sounds like a crappy way of managing customer service to me.

Thats why i aint gonna pre-order Red Alert 3 bring back Westwood Studios!!!

I pre-order either from EB or best buy. Best buy will cost about 10 bucks to ship to my house.

You should have just pre-ordered it from EB Games. They usually get copies on release day, and they call you a day or so before to remind you to come pick it up. Quite handy!
The box:

Have your credit card company cancel the charge. Simple as that.
