Default BEST 30" high end LCD Monitor?????

OK, I've been looking at the Samsung 305T 30IN Widescreen LCD Monitor 2560X1600
that was reviewed here, and it sounds pretty cool. However, I know Dell (
Dell 3007WFP) and HP (HP LP3065) have some good modles. I want this for gaming, gaming, gaming, and reg PC usage. I do not watch movies on my PC. So, what is the best? Would want to keep it under $1500...

If all you do is game, then either of those displays are fine. Both the 305T and the 3007WFP use the same panel AFAIK.

Hmm as far as I know the Samsung 305T has a Samsung S-PVA panel. The Dell 3007WFP uses an an S-IPS LG panel. For gaming you're probably better off with the Samsung as it'll be a lower response time, howver the Dell will have superior colour reproduction.

I game on my Dell 2007WFP S-IPS panel with a 16ms response time. The 3007 has 14ms I believe. I don't ever get ghosting but I do get screen tearing on very high settings on some games. I would use vsync if I'm lazy to take care of it or triple buffering if I want to get fancy... either works.

From experience, the Gateway XHD3000H is THE BEST 30" on the market...bar none. My buddy bought one from NCIX and let me tell you, it is stunning and has more features than you could ever want.

Canadian Prices: Gateway - Gateway 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor (XHD3000H) - XHD3000H

Looks like Compu2000 (another NCIX company) has it will free shipping!!!!!

But he doesn't need a scaler, multiple inputs, PIP. Plus for just gaming, it is not near as good as the 3007WFP and the 305T because of the scaler causing input lag.

Great monitor yes, but if you were use it only as a monitor, there are definitely other ones I would buy first.

Funny, I didn't notice any input lag and my friend is one of the top ranked CoD4 players so I am surprised he hasn't complained...

Does your buddy get the "black out" and input lag issues mentioned in this massive thread?

According to him he hasn't experience either yet. But looking at that thread it does seem to me that the quality of the monitor is a bit suspect.

Read that thread. When you run at the native resolution you get no input lag. Or simply, don't use the built in scalar. You need to twiddle with the advanced timings in your vid card to get rid of the blackout issue, improper timing pulses.

Why would someone buy this monitor and not use native resolution? I mean I understand what the Scaler is used for running something like an Xbox 360 or PS3 but buying a monitor like this, running it at non-native resolution and then complaining there is input lag is just...well....what I want to say isn't fit for the forums.
