My System Specs

Default Bigger than 27?

Just curious what everyone's suggestions would be if I wanted to upgrade from a 27"/1080p. Not sure about higher resolution so far.... Or at least I'm unconvinced. Was wondering if an older 30"/1080p would be worth it.

My eyes are getting old... Lol

27 and or 30" on a desk is too big in my opinion. Your better off getting a 24" 16:10 monitor and increasing the DPI size.

What's your budget? 30 inch for desk top is not too large at all. I have one and would never go back to anything smaller. 2560x1600 resolution 30 inchers are a bit expensive for some but that's the way I would go if I were you and could afford it.

If you sit back from your screen you could go >27 @ 1080p, but I wouldn't up close. IMO if you are going >27" on a desk it needs to be >1080p.

Have you tried it? Immersion on a 30" monitor on a desktop is rather impressive. When I'm looking at a 24" I'm always aware of the bezel, but while gaming on my 30" it pretty much fills my field of view.

Cmetaphor, keep an eye out for a used Dell U3011 or U3014. You can always adjust icon and font sizes. I'm not aware of any 30" 1080P monitors.

I have tried it and I didn't like it. It caused me headaches as there was too much screen for me.

^ what sugarj said.

enaberif, I have been really enjoying my U2711. Though sometimes I wish it was a bit bigger&higher res, but then I would need more GFX horsepower to not lower settings. :P

I guess the Oculus Rift ain't gonna happen for you. Too bad really. My wife has the same issue as you with a 30 inch monitor. She tried mine and didn't like it. I had to really work on her to get her to agree on using a 24 inch.

I know the Rift won't work for me. I can't do sterescopic stuff like 3d movies and such.
