Default Acer announces a 4k monitor with G-Sync!

Acer just announced a 28" 4k monitor with G-Sync to be released sometime in Q2. If it does release in Q2 that is pretty soon then.

I am guessing it will be the same monitor as the Samsung but with G-Sync.

Probably $100-$150.

It will also have a better stand so I am guessing this will cost at least $700 to $850 if they use the same screen as the Samsung one. If they use a higher quality one I wouldn't be surprised to see this at the $1000 mark.

If this is under $1000 with a decent screen I will buy this as I don't think I will need to upgrade that monitor for a very long time.

Yeah 4k with G-sync would be nice to see 120-144h refresh rate though. But I know that's a few months / yrs away. This is probably a TN Panel but hopefully a top line TN not some $30 recycled one.

Anything above 60 Hz at 4K is not a DisplayPort standard, so it won't be fed through the cable. DP 1.3 may end up supporting it, but the display itself will need the connection along with the graphics card.

Heading into the future, the G-Sync markup on monitors won't be that high. Certainly worth the ~$100 in the first batch of G-Sync monitors.

I paid $200 for the G-Sync module. Worth every penny. Better than any $200 upgrade I've ever put towards a new video card, no contest. Just sayin'.

Also, if/when AMD gets freesync to the market, again around DP 1.3, may end up with same performance as G-Sync but working on any DP 1.3 monitor, no premium. So goes the net rumours.

By that time you'd see nvidia abandon G-Sync or incorporate into something else if free-sync can do same as G-sync does theres no point in it. Like physx card before nvidia bought Em out.

I don't think we will see a 120hz 4k monitor for years. Also there isn't much point to one right now as the horse power to go above 60 fps is insane. Not even 4 titans can do that in some games.
