Default State of 4k gaming monitors?

I have noticed a couple 60hz 1ms gtg 4k monitors coming in at a more friendly price point (and 28" to boot). My main wonder is if it is worth taking serious or if we will probably see better monitors coming out this year (ie better features, colours, etc).

It would seem that they are gaming ready, but I'd hate to see 6 months after a purchase a much better feature set released in a similar ballpark price. Hard to say if I can give up my surround gaming for the higher pixel density without trying it in person though.

Seeing as how 4K is still a new field in resolution space there will always be a newer "4k" monitor out in a few months. I don't believe in the hype of the 4K, seriously need the biggest cards (AMD R9 290X for example) to play. I'm more interested in Ultrawide monitors now (it's my personal opinion anyway). Perhaps in a few GPU generations 4K gaming will be possible on a mid tier card and monitors will be affordable ( with great quality of course)

I think you will see progress in the next year or so, since they are still pretty new.

Personally, I would wait for whenever DP 1.3 4K displays come out rather then jumping on the DP 1.2 ones right now, more bandwidth so you can daisy chain more stuff to that one display, plus I think other DP 1.3 features, which I can't quite remember right now.

running the 4k samsung now for bf4 I like it, if we waited for every newer piece of hardware we would never buy anything. ;)

Running on high res @ 90 fps on 2 780's, dropped from ultra on my 120hz 1080p monitor, so ya do need top end video cards...
