After three months and a bunch of delays, I finally got the LG 34um95-p from NCIX, which I price matched down more than $200.00 less than their regular price.

I'll post some impressions of it in the coming days, as I'm just finalizing my NZXT H440 build to drive this thing.

Quick impressions are positive. I'll also try calibrating it with my Eye One Display Pro and the built-in LG True color finder software which calibrates the monitor directly versus calibrating the video card, so color adjustments stay true in games too.

So not really a thread necro, but more of a "wait for the damn thing to show up at my doorstep after a fricken' long time" necro.

To me, I would just get a 4K monitor. I prefer to have a monitor with the same resolutions of regular HD/UHD TVs, but that's just me.

Tried that, didn't like it. Neither Windows 7 nor Windows 8 are really optimized for this resolution. Also, you will be gaming with lower resolutions scaled up if you don't have something like a 295x2 or twin r9 290/290x adapters, or possibly twin 780/780tis in Crossfire or SLi respectively. In addition you'd probably want something 28" or 32" to not go cross-eyed.

So far I'm loving this display. I'm waiting a few days of use before I post some more impressions.

Wondering if anyone's got updates or additional input on the ultrawides. There's an AOC monitor I noticed at a Canada computers in Mississauga, and reading about these LG's has got me curious. While I was mulling over getting the ASUS Gsync monitor, the idea of playing a game like skyrim, or Mass effect 3 (not to mention witcher 3 when it's out) with that wide a screen is really appealing.

Any info/experiences is appreciated.

Used a dell 21:9 once.. hated it too wide too shallow... The LG looks good only because of the 1440. Though being a good quality fast IPS helps too.

I think I may look at these again when they can make them faster and curved.
