Default Display options

Right now I have a Asus PB278Q monitor 2560x1440 resolution. What would be better option for multiple applications open same time? 2nd monitor 2560x1140 or wide screen 29" 21:9 monitor or 4k monitors available this spring.

In a strictly desktop environment, 4k is the ultimate power user's tool. Having said that, I think under 30" would be a pain to use and you'd want to use a 30" 4k display fairly up close.
