Default Can someone recommend me a good monitor below $200?

I'm still using a Dell monitor for almost a decade now (it doesn't even have HDMI input) and I think it's time for me to get a new monitor. Can someone recommend me a monitor below $200? I can go over a bit if it's really worth it.

It would mainly be used for gaming, watching movies, web, etc.

Not what you wanted to hear, but this one was on sale twice for $182.25, on Black Friday with free shipping. Likely it will be on sale again at that price or $189.99 if you're patient.

Right now it's only discounted down to $219.99 - which would NOT include shipping, tax and disposal fee...

oops - edited to add the NOT in the above line...

Dell UltraSharp 23 Monitor - U2312HM : Parts & Upgrades | Dell Canada

It was reviewed here on Hardware Canucks:

It does not have HDMI but:

1 Digital Visual Interface connectors (DVI-D) with HDCP
1 DisplayPort (DP)
1 Video Graphics Array (VGA)
1 USB 2.0 upstream port
4 USB 2.0 downstream ports

Here's what I was charged on Black Friday.

^^^Seems like you got a good deal. I have been keeping my eye out for a new monitor as well. I may keep an eye on boxing day sales for this one.

I will echo Crow's statement. You simply will not find a better value p/dollar than the u2312hm. I used three of them for quite a while before moving to 27" screens, and I was very happy with them. It goes on sale quite regularly, so I'd try to wait a bit for it.

I saw that Asus PB238Q had the same spec and price range. Which one would be better (PB238Q vs U2312HM)?

Forgot to mention this in my first post, but there was another Hardware Canuck's review that might be of interest:

I was just thinking of that one... a great bang for buck monitor BUT if you can get the dell for under 2 bills thats the way I'd go.
