Well amd has free-sync in works but from what iv read sounds like its more less geared for laptop's. Iv seen aoc is launching a 24" G-Sync monitor in UK in next 2-3 weeks.hope this lights the fire under Asus's @$$ and makes get there Swift out door like Yesterday.

AOC G-sync

Any word of g-sync monitors (not mods) coming to market soon... Might be looking as AirFrance has damaged my U2713hm

Gsync is pretty much a dead Tech now with Active Vsync coming out native to Displayport.

was a good try tho nvidia "charging for already developed tech".

How will Active V-Sync eliminate stuttering and lag?

The "already developed tech" you are talking about is the tear-eliminating processing within the Active V-Sync specification. Absolutely nothing about it pertains to proper frame buffering and quicker monitor / GPU handoffs for input signal improvements.

Those are proprietary underlying technologies of G-SYNC which NVIDIA holds several longstanding patents for.

Will there be some sort of G-SYNC vs FreeSync article just to see if there's a huge difference (if at all) between the two?

Sure. Once FreeSync or Adaptive Sync or whatever is the marketing word of the day is supported on monitors and drivers are available. I don't expect that to happen for another 6-12 months.

More here: VESAŽ Adds ?Adaptive-Sync? to Popular DisplayPort? Video Standard | VESA

The issue is that adding a VESA certification means nothing since in its current form, Adaptive Sync requires new hardware despite its use of the eDP standard. That takes time to develop.
