well I always start with 16:10 and narrow it down from there.

this is only 16:9 but much higher DPI Dell UltraSharp 27 Monitor - U2713HM : Parts & Upgrades | Dell Canada

Sounds like he wants Lightboost. Which eliminates all IPS and Dell monitors. I think the VG278H would be a good choice. Not sure if the G-SYNC module will be available for it if that matters though. Although I do not believe we will see any G-SYNC capable displays before Christmas anyways.

i can wait a couple of months for it.

is lightboost worth the extra money? or is a Dell one just as good?

what makes a 16;10 better than 16;9? what are options in that one?

If this monitor is meant primarily for gaming and you have a system that can maintain 100+ FPS then yes it definitely is. The reduction in motion blur makes most game look significantly clearer.

16:10 isn't better than 16:9. It is just personal preference. I myself dislike 16:10 as I'd prefer a wider FOV for gaming and I watch a lot of TV which means no black border on the top and bottom of the picture.

Yes monitor is for gaming with little schooling papers.

would the 27 BenQ one be a good fit. I like the adjustable stand.

As far as specs for computer go, its about 2 years old, 750 cpu on an EVGA P55 FTW with a 570OC Video card

If I had a $600 budget, then I would go with the BENQ XL2420TE 24" 144hz monitor, and then spend the remainder of the money on a GPU upgrade.
One thing to beware of is that TN panels are just not as colour accurate as the IPS, so you would have to adjust the settings manually through the monitor settings and Nvidia Control Panel for the best colours.
