im currently looking at VIEWSONICS VX2270S. But what is its refresh rate?. Is it capable 1080p recording at 60fps.

my computer specs are

i7 4770k
zotac gtx780 amp
2tb seagate barracuda 7200rpm
16gb sniper g skill 1866ram

the vx2270s monitor is priced at 150$ where i live.

Any modern monitor that isn't 4K is at the very least 60hz, I'd recommend BenQ over viewsonic though, they make good monitors in that price point.

Monitors don't record or have any effect on recording gameplay unless v-sync is on.

Also, why do you want to record at 60fps? standard for movies etc is ~26 fps if I remember right from college days.

Any monitor that does 60Hz (they all do) will do 60FPS. Viewsonic is an OK brand. Probably around the ACER level. I agree with superflyx3 though, try to find a deal on a BenQ.

Spend 10 bucks more and get this.

Still doesn't change the fact that the monitor has absolutely no effect in any way, shape or form on your recording(as long as v-sync is disabled)... Pick anything.

Screen tearing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Basically it matches your FPS to a refresh rate your monitor can do (usually 60, 30 fps / hz) with adaptive v-sync on Nvidia cards doing it a bit more fine-grain.

Exclamation

Stay away from Viewsonic, I have noticed too many dying to recommend them. BenQ or Dell FTW!
