Default Dell 21.9 aspect ratio monitor??

Dell has the U2913WM 21.9 aspect ratio available for purchase. Resolution is 2560x1080P. My concern is how it would scale,or how games would scale properly with this 29 inch ultra wide screen with that ratio, and how games would look with 1080P. I understand that games are either 16.10 or 16.9 standard aspect ratio. Anyone here with info on this type of monitor for gaming? The monitor I have now is at 2560x1600. Will I see any difference in image quality with 2560 x1080P compared to 2560 x1600? I paid over $2000 for my Dell 3008 30 inch, and I can buy 3 of these 29 inchers for the same price. I plan on hooking them up to the GeForce Titan. Anyone? All info,is really appreciated guys. Thanks.

If you're buying 3, I don't see why it wouldn't work since you're relying more on NVIDIA Surround technology than what the game provides I believe.

I think you'll need 2 Titan's to power that sort of resolution though. That's 7680x1080...

2560x1080 personally would be like dating a 300lb 4'5 woman; To wide and not enough height.

They are basically 2 panels in 1. Don't know how well they will work on surround.

What about 1080P image quality? Is that resolution enough to look as good as x1600? In other words, how good,or bad is the image quality with the lesser resolution of 1080P? Will I even notice the difference in resolution when gaming? Thanks again.

If you are putting it beside your 30" monitor you will notice a difference. At that width I'm not sure how much the image quality will suffer but the resolution difference will be annoying to say the least. I'm always bothered with my 27" 1080p beside a 24" 1200 if that tells you anything. IMO that resolution is more for movies and maybe office work where they are only using 1 monitor instead of 2.

3xU2713HM's is better IMO.. more standard res, the 16:9 doesn't affect as much as it's plenty deep enough and will cost you about the same I think

Though to play your looking at tri-Titans for sweet frames at max settings.

I find that depending on the game, sometimes your better with a lower res screen. FPS is definitely better on 1920x1200 than 2560x1600 (on same size screen), So much easier to pick people out.

Since the horizontal resolution is the same between this 29" and the 27/30" monitors, I don't see why it wouldn't look as sharp/crisp. The height is just going to be much shorter compared to the 27/30" monitors.

It'll obviously look funny at first if you come from a 16:9 or 16:10 monitor, but eventually you'll get used to it. I imagine this would pretty much fill your FOV.

21:9 is what most movies are done at I believe? I know there's been 21:9 TV's launched in Europe and Asia.
