Calibration will improve the colors, but there isn't much you can do.
So that brings us back to square one. What will you be using your monitor for in order of preference?
Gaming (refresh rates, response time)
Movies / TV / Video (brightness and overall picture and screen size)
Photo Work and Editing (color accuracy)
Office / Internet (Overall picture and screen size)
