My System Specs

Default Perfect Pixel 124hz Yamakasi Catleap Q270

So I just bought this the other day, it was the perfect pixel one in stock and I have a question about it for those who may know. I asked the seller but he told me he wasn't sure. this is the monitor right here

★★★Perfect Pixel ★★★ 120Hz Overclock ★★★ Yamakasi Catleap Q270 Multi Monitor | eBay

I was wondering if this monitor can do 3D. I just bought a GTX 680 to go with this monitor and get the 124hz out of it and I notice that on the item description it says

"Special Limited Edition - 2560x1440@120Hz (3D FPS, MMORPG) only 100 qty in the world for pilot launch."

In a word: no.

A monitor has to be certified for NVIDIA's 3D Vision in order for it to be compatible with their stereoscopic hardware.

3D is possible, but no through NVIDIA's solution.

Oh you think so ? that's crazy if it can do 3D for a monitor that size and resolution. Time to google!

One possibility is AMD's solution but the effect likely won't be all that great.

There are hacks out there to fool nvidia into thinking your monitor is an approved model. I did it successfully with my BenQ projector. Google around a bit, it involves modifying the .inf file for your monitor.

I'm not sure how that is possible on all monitors. The refresh rate would have to perfectly sync up or you'd get some serious flickering.

I rather not mess with that. I'll just enjoy the 124hz and high res with my new 680. :)

I am upgrading from a 24 inch benQ V2400W that I got almost 5 years ago so I am sure I'll be satisfied enough.

Wait what? those displays can be "overclocked" again?

EDIT:
Wow, what a premium for the 120hz version!
