I Disagree totally and 100% completely. I had 2 5.1 setups before my current setup and always used small "cube" speakers for fronts or "bookshelf" speakers.... they are not worth it at all in my opinion. A 3-way tower speaker for both fronts will destroy any "cube" or "bookshelf" speaker setup in terms of audio quality, frequency response and maximum power. Hands down.

Yea i know. But coming from experience, I picked up a 5.1 setup from yamaha. Great reciever, but the speakers we SO terrible. I love the sound of floorstanding speakers, even in conjunction with a decent little sub. Room filling, clear sound. Even some decent little bookshelfs can sound amazing, so long as they are good quality. Definitive technologies is by far my favorite, but Energy (a local canadian brand) makes some great bookshelfs, and at good prices too.

It Can sound good for movies and the like... but then again, for audio (Especially Music!) they don't sound that great and are Always missing low-mids (making the music sound empty with nothing but highs, high mids and a thumping sub).

Mmmmmmm I've had the pleasure of feeling this sub. I am in love. Definitive Technology Powered Subwoofers

It was built to replace a large Church Organ.

Ou very nice!

Anyway, back on topic. Patriot, if you are listening, consider a good stereo receiver and speakers. If you dont think it will make a difference to you now, it will turn you into a audiophile soon!

Thanks again for the replies guys :)

Well, the receiver can't be that bad. It cost me around 450$ like 3 years ago. It was never used. Things changed and i never got around to use it.

Other than not having the new HDMI stuff, it should be good for a great surround sound with a 32" HDTV 1080p right guys? I'll just have to make sure to get a great set of 5.1 speakers.

Can any1 recommend some? Preferably from BestBuy.

Oh and thanks for the recommendations for the cables. I'll look into NCIX.com! Love the shop!

Best Buy Canada Web Store: Home Electronics: Home Audio & Speakers: Klipsch Quintet II MicroSystem

These will more than likely sound good for a small 5.1 setup. You will need a sub though, this would be a good match. Best Buy Canada Web Store: Home Electronics: Home Audio & Speakers: Klipsch Synergy Subwoofer (Sub-10)
