I just have a couple questions before I pull the trigger on one of these:

- What difference does a Dual Link DVI cable make? I realize it needs one, I am just curious why.
- What is the difference with the 100Hz versions compared to the.... non (?) 100Hz versions that got shipped out afterwards? Did they switch back? Some things I read on the OC forums led me to believe so.
- Is the only difference between the Crossover, Achievia and Yamakasi monitors the stands? If so, does the best to worst go (best) Crossover>Yamakasi>Achievia (worst) ?

Thanks in advance!

You need dual-link DVI to support the resolution. Single-link is capped at 1920x1200 (or the odd 2048x1156) at 60Hz.

Likewise, you need dual-link to run 1920x1200 @ 120Hz as well.

The 100hz monitors were a batch that was overclockable essentially. For whatever reason the boards were changed, and after March, they couldn't be driven to 100hz.

You're pretty much spot on with the brands, stands and bezels being the only difference

Ah I see - News to me about the dual link DVI!

What would the ability to overclock the frequency do?

The Hz are reflective of framerate limitations by the monitor. If your gpu is pushing 120 fps, a 60hz monitor can only display 60 fps. By being able to raise the Hz of the monitor higher, you can get a higher "True" fps.

Examples of this is the Dell 2209wa, 120hz 3d monitors (which really show 2 images staggered at 60hz to create 3d), and these 2b revisions.

also, I got my crossover on Tuesday. It is ay-may-zing. I'm in love and totally worth the 350.

The crossover brand I got is great. Picture is amazing, colours, etc. My only real beef with this model is the OSD doesnt exist. They have the labels there, but there is no buttons. You just have to use your gpu control panel to change settings instead of manually via the monitor. Not a huge deal. They also gave me a plug adapter for the power cord to AC adapter. I threw it out, and used my old monitor power cord to plug in the AC adapter without issues.

I also had to adjust the lower bezel on my monitor by the on LED. Hard to explain, but essentially the plastic covering the LED is too big, and it was bending the metal bezel. Strange...Also, for the first ~2 hours I had some weird flickering (best way I can describe it, almost like static) on the screen. I read about it vaguely on some other posts online. They said it would go away, it did. Just something to think about if you get yours and its doing some weird things. Let it run overnight before you worry about it as a problem.

I paid 350 USD, got AW to declare it as a 'sample' at $60 value, and didnt pay any duty. Obviously we'll have to see the longevity to really know if its worth the cash, but assuming I get 3+ years its an amazing monitor.

If you have any other questions, I'll do my best to give you my thoughts. I'm still debating buying a colorimeter to fine tune this toy.
