My System Specs

Default 24"+ Monitor Suggestions
Mom keeps nagging me to tell her what I want for christmas, all that comes to mind is a monitor. I've got a Samsung 2343BWX at this point and I'm looking to upgrade. I was hoping to go for size and panel type upgrades, but money doesn't seem to allow that.


So in short what I think I'm looking for:
- 24"+ (although not really looking to get a 27" at 1920x1080 since I sit fairly close)
- Preferably not TN, but I don't really mind
- No ghosting problems as it's for gaming
- Available locally (Canada Computers, FS, and BB pretty much)
- $300ish max

flash crashed, thus crashing firefox, and my response with it.

too long to type again, NCIX has an Asus IPS 23", After taxes $350, $309 before. I havent seen it in person, someone who knows a lot more about monitors may come in and say how it is crap. ah well.

Saw IPS in person a while ago for the first time, IPS is a lot better than TN, I wasted money by going TN.

Thanks for looking guys, but you all missed at least one of my requirements in each of your posts.

Problem is I'm not looking for a TV, I'm looking for a monitor.

I seem to have glanced over this monitor before, but I don't really know much about it. 23" (Damnit) LG IPS monitor. Any words of advice against it?

The IPS 236 and 235 series are LG's "economical" IPS with factory calibration, so you get accurate colors. It's fairly responsive and low input lag which also makes it a good gaming screen.

Outside of being available locally the Dell U2412M is still a good choice and goes on sale often. It's probably the best IPS 24" gaming screen out there.

The Asus PA238Q is a great choice EXCEPT that right now they have major quality issues with this screen. It seems like Asus cherry-picked this model to send it to reviewers and the ones people are getting for sale are showing wild swings in quality in terms of back-light bleed and uniformity. Too bad, because this is a great all-rounder choice for gaming and photo-editing in sRGB.
