Good monitor for gaming and watching movies?

Let me know which do you think is best and also my budget is between 200-300$.
Asus PA238Q
Asus ML238H
Asus ML239H
Dell u2311h

Please also suggest, if there any other good monitor apart from this.

The dell hands down

An LG W2442PA is pretty good to and even less money and quite respectable performance.
I had a Dell u2311h and returned it.

@Tyreman

LG W2442PA is perfect :D, apart from the viewing angle problem coz its TN panel :). Any IPS Panel with similar performance to W2442PA ?

Since I have just the one monitor in front of me I don't have the viewing angle issue
PS I know people who have large enough desk for 2 and no issue.
3 year warranty as well.
Very good image quality equal to a dell ultrasharp easily.

Dell Alienware Panel is 120HZ has to use double dongle
Son has it, flawless performance for gaming
Its probably a TN panel but nothing wrong with it.

Only other IPS would be the Asus one its supposed to be pretty good or Dells but thats up to you.
I have owned lots of Dells of the Ultrasharp designation.

@tyreman

Which would you recommend out of all panels combined (TN,IPS,VA)?

I like my sons Alienware Dell one
Its quite a panel TN I think
Its extremely good

IPS needs more perfection yet on QC issues,consistant product and lower prices
Dell has the latter lower prices but not consistant quality on them like their usual tn ultrasharp panels

As far as whats best i have no idea.
you'd have to ask an expert on that.

Some say va has slower response times,not as good or stable compared to ips,colour change on angle compared to ips others say it doesn't matter

Best judge each on the quality of the picture reproduced buy it, enjoy it.
If you get a good one of anything and your happy enjoy it.
But I won't pay for issues that shouldn't be there.

Had my previous u2311h been consistant and good quality I would have kept it, it started out good but soon developed purplish luminous vertical band or two

I think i will go for LG W2442PA or Asus ML239H, let me know if there any issues with ML239H?

Asus PA238Q is a Pro-Art monitor so it should be pretty good. The Pro Art series also come with a good warranty, no stuck/bright pixels. If you're Canadian the PA238Q seems to be a bit tough to find right now. It will also be factory calibrated, whereas most monitors are not, so it should have nice, accurate colors. I'd probably rate it as the best all-rounder.

The Asus ML238H is another TN panel with a non height-adjust stand. I'd take the LG W2442PA Tyreman listed over this one.

The Asus ML239H looks decent too. It doesn't have DVI, HDMI only but it looks to be a decent quality 23" IPS. Again, though the stand is not height adjust.

There is also the NEC EA232WMi which is an LED 23". The EA231WMi was a low lag screen good for gaming and had the unique ability to handle 75hz at 1920x1080. I don't know if the EA232WMi can do it too yet.

These monitors have better image quality than the LG W2442PA, though for a TN, this is a pretty good screen too. TNs have color changing from top to bottom even if you sit perfectly still at a perfect viewing angle. It's the nature of the technology.

The U2311H is also good but only if it's on sale for under $300.00. I think the regular price of $339.00 that Dell sells it for is far too high.

@10e

Nice info,

Only concern i have is that for each every monitor either ghosting issue or bleeding issue is listed out or its some color band issue.

Even PA238Q such issues are listed out.

So far W2442PA doesnt have such problems.I don't know about other monitors, is there any monitor apart from W2442PA which doesn't have such problems?
