Default Best Gaming Monitor?

I am trying to decide on the best gaming monitor for my upcoming new rig. So, I have been doing a lot of research and can honestly say the more I look, the harder the decision is becoming. The following monitors have made my short list so far:
Acer GD235HZ
Alienware OptX AW2310 23-inch 3D Full HD Widescreen Monitor with GeForce 3D Vision Kit
BenQ XL2410t
Dell U711 27"

Ignoring cost, what is the best monitor for gaming, whether inside or outside of this list. This will by all means be a gaming monitor, with plans to add a second and (possibly) 3rd monitor down the road. The GPU's I will likely be running are something like dual GTX 580's.

I really like the GD235HZ and the AW2310, and as well I hear that the XL2410t has a superior panel. The U711 looks a bit too big for playing RTS games, but I am not 100% sure.

If it's important for gaming to have 120HZ and LED over LCD, or 24" maximum, please help me narrow my search, as I think I am in over my head here!

Thanks

I love my Dell 3008WFP. At last, they don't make them anymore. I consider it still to this day one of the best monitor ever made.

I know with Dell you can get financing.. and a little leverage is not a dirty word when making a significant investment in a new computer rig. So having said that I do like the alienware 23", I don't know anything about 3D enabled monitors nor do I know if I will have the ideal monitor for high end GPU.

I think 24" would be ideal personally, because I currently have a 22" as I mentioned, and going larger than 24 would probably make playing SC2 suboptimal.

What's the best ? :)

Dual 580 on a 24in monitor on a "cheap" 24 inch monitor seems like total non-sense to me.
When I went from my 19in CRT (18 viewable) to a 24in monitor, I thought I was going overboard, but it only took a few months for me to think that I could also have gone 30in. I am not saying my monitor dissapoints me, I still love it, but you get used to those things.

Now in your situation, I wouldn't go for anythings smaller than 27in.
Because, I don't see 22 to 24 as being a change worth 400$, because of the fact you have dual 580 and that anything at or below 1920 x 1200 will be overkill. Because, if you have that kind of money to spend on GPU, you shouldn't get a cheap TN monitor, the monitor is what you look at, its a window where you can see the power of your rig (that was funny). Dell makes great monitors.
I personally wouldn't consider a 27in for myself because I already have a 24in, I am using the same reasoning for you... To that you may add that most of those are not even 24in, but 23.6, which makes the difference even less noticeable.

Well I'm pretty sure nobody wants to play starcraft on a screen bigger than 24". I have weighed the acer vs alienware, and I think I will place an order for the AW 2310 23" 3D Full HD , $379.99 from dell.

For me I think it is AW2310 > G245H > XL2410T.

The reason is that the Alienware has better colour than the G245H and the XL2410T has a cluncky unattractive design, and was created with FPS gamers in mind.. which is not my forte.

My only hesitation is that thhis AW2310 has been out for a longg time, if I get it will I still have the latest technology? Is there a more advanced monitor out there, or am I surely going with the best? What do you guys think..

So actually I may be buying the G235HZ afterall. Would anyone who's an authority out there on advanced gaming monitors recommend this Acer model? I wil have a couple of Nvidia GXT 580's under it, and may run two monitors. Please advise, I would like to purchase this weekend :)

I recommend the Asus VE276 27" LCD. NCIX.com - Buy ASUS VE276Q 27IN 1080P Display Port HDMI DVI VGA 2MS LCD Monitor - ASUS - VE276Q - in Canada

Its only 1920x1080 resolution, but it can be price-matched to $294. Buy three!

The PQ is fantastic, and the viewing angle is 2nd to none. I am a gamer, and there is nothing bad I could find to say about it for playing games, except for the low resolution for such a screen size. Games feel more real with a 27". My last monitor was a crap 19". ;^).
