i do like the look of the acer better. The asus monitor has a contrast ratio of 100,000 while the acer has a ratio of 80,000.
Will that make a big difference?

No
CONTRAST RATIO: ARE MANUFACTURER'S SPECS IMPORTANT?

In all likelyhood, these monitors use identical panels. As such, quality will theorectically be the same.

However, I believe they each have their own backlight/electronics designs, but as far as contrast ratio, response time, etc are concerned, they're the same.

Arguably, the ASUS is better value though if it truly has a height-adjustable stand.

the adjustable height doesn't really make a difference for me anyway.

Haha, I think I'm gonna go with the Acer, I really don't won't the glossy screen of the Asus. And I can't stand there costumer service. I've started a couple threads on different forums and they all said go for the Acer.
