Image problems on 42" LCD TV

Hello. I just finished building a new rig and I have yet to purchase a proper monitor so I've just hooked it up to my 42" toshiba lcd. I'm using an EVGA GTX 570 and after installing the drivers and getting the proper resolution options, the image does not fit within the screen. at 1920x180 the image extends outside the borders of the tv. However, lowering the resolution does not fix this. The quality of the image decreases, but the borders are still outside the border of the TV. I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to technology, so there's probably an easy way to fix this, but I can't figure it out. Any help would be great. Thanks!

howdy and welcome.

try either pushing the adjust button on your lcd or go to the nv control pannel and see if you can get it going there.

are you sure its 1920x1080?

Hmmm. I couldn't find an auto detect on my tv, but I cycled through the picture modes (standard, movie, game, etc) from the remote and for whatever reason when on the game setting the image fits perfectly, yet on any other setting it's too big. Not sure what's going on there... Thanks for the help though!
