Default Alienware Curved Monitor.

Huge Monitor: Alienware Curved Monitor Looks Like It's From Another Planet

So what do you guys think of this, Is it something that we will be seeing in the near future?

What are the real benefits with this monitor in various tasks such as Gaming, Movies, Editing, and Word or day to day office use. (I could only imagine using this for my wicked math excel sheets)?

Well, it seems like it has a single purpose: Gaming. I use my computer actually more for TV and movies than gaming. My 32" 1080p is the machine of choice, and will remain king.

Quite like the curve, but its pretty thick. Personally im looking forward to those flexible wafer thin organic screens-resolution is insane too.

what can run crysis at that res?

This is awesome on a level that could completely redeem Alienware. Unfortunately, their pricing tendencies probably won't change, and I estimate 50% odds that they stick an gaudy alien head on the finished product.

That said, I wouldn't mind if the resolution was better. The monitor has 2.6 megapixels, which is only slightly more than the 2.3 megapixels of a 1920x1200, and far less than the 4.1 that a 2560x1600 monitor has. If you're getting this monitor, you've probably got the GPU horsepower to run more.

My concerns w/ a monitor like this would be:

1) How many games will support this resolution ?
2) How do non-gaming apps look (i.e. viewing webpages) ?
3) How noticable is the transition from one sub-panel to the next ?
