i've got two eyefinity questions for those familiar

1. can a single 6990 dominate games at full settings with say 3 1080p monitors?

2. would you have trouble running games in eyefinity with 3 screens in portrait at 3240x1920?

1. What would your definition of dominate games be? The 6990 is essential 2 6970s, which can run games at fairly high settings at good frame rates for the most part, with the exception of some uber settings on certain games (such as the uber sampling in Witcher 2 brings all gpus to their knees).

2. No idea if you'd have trouble as you'd have to rely on the games themselves to support that resolution (and i'm not sure what ones do)

pretty much newer games in general, just wanted to know how the 6990 runs three high def screens cause its the best card and my boards crossfire is 16x4 so crossfire at the higher end would be bottlenecked. if i ever eyefinity it has to be one card, and i could probably deal with the performance you speak of

i'll have to look more into that resolution i guess, thanks for the heads up

No problem, the 6990 should be able to run most these games like i said at very high settings, but bewarned that the higher the resolution you go, the more of a toll it takes on a graphics card (or 2).

By example, someone with a 6990 playing at 1080 might get 70+ fps, whereas you playing at 6000 x 1080 will be getting 50+ fps on the same settings (example, not always this linear or true)

I've emailed CD Projekt regarding the Witcher 2 and no eyefinity support. They inform me that Eyefinity will not be supported in patch 2.0 either :( Let's just hope the next installment works correctly!
It is possible to select the correct resolution, however the game only runs in windowed mode and large chunks of the sides on the peripheral monitor are black.

Gutted. I an spoilt having 3 screens so games only running on a single screen - and sometimes its the left screen, sometimes the middle, don't really get played anymore.

Yeah, unfortunately I believe Cd Projekt is heavily in nVidia's pockets, meaning I don't think we'll ever see eyefinity support for their games. Its a real shame as I loved it in nvidia surround when I first got the game

I'm cheating and have just obtained "Hayden's Flawless Widescreen" tool. Means I can't go past patch 1.2, but it's a price I'm willing to pay to be able to play this across 3 screens. I've seen it on an NV surround setup, and it looks really good. Will be testing this after work tonight.

I've just "discovered" RPG's with Dragon Age 2. Loved it very much, and now it's finished I needed something to fill the void. Tried the original DA:Origins but not enjoying it so much with a silent protagonist and "outdated" graphics. (I've played RPG's in the past but they just haven't done it for me, until I played DA:2)
The Witcher 2 is more in the league of what I'm interested in. Maybe Dungeon Siege III - It's on special at the moment where I shop for games :)

Contemplating a nice gaming setup, any thoughts on multiple hdtv's or hd projectors? Short throw projectors can really free up some space if you manage a clean ceiling install, seen some software to blend the edges (loose 15% in overlap but it's seamless) hdtv's are dirt cheap these days (old models)

Any thoughts? I stumbled onto This subject at widescreengamingforum and proceeded to blow a couple hours reading through threads.

I think personally I'd skip anything HDTV for gaming and go for a "proper" screen; the quality of the image is much better IMO.
I'd love to see an eyefinity/NV surround rig running 3 x 1080p projectors...You'll need a big wall though!
