The fact you stated that you rarely play games on it there is no real point in getting a larger monitor. I would however recommend getting say a second monitor as it is nice to have multiple applications open across several monitors (eyefinity here)

I run 2 x 24 and it is plenty. IMO all you need is a decent 24 which can be had for $200 these days. If you have lots of extra cash you can spring for a 27 or 30 but if you are going that big dont go cheap.

Agreed. Pixel pitch of a 27" monitor only running 1920x1200/1080 is going to be rather awful.

Yah dont get a 1920x1200/1080 27 inch, it is just a 24 stretched out and looks like crap. Higher res is gunna triple in price so 24 is the sweet spot for value for $$.
