My U2711 is awesome for gaming! Definitely recommend it if you can afford it.

And we all know response time figures are 99% lies, so why even bother? If I tell you the U2711 is 1ms, will you buy it then? That's all Samsung/Viewsonic are doing. I highly doubt it achieves 1ms in real-world testing.

I ain't no gamer, hence why I asked the Response time question. =)

Me, I can't afford the U2711 (well, not after that SR2 build...), but my customer sure can.

Thanks all, i think that seals the model. Now, to hunt a good deal...

oh, my Wife has a U2410 for her photoshoppin' work, which is right beside me atm; my problem was we are neither gamers. I know and can see the IQ of the U2410, but I didn't know if it was acceptable as a gaming monitor.

Realistically, anything under about 8ms gtg response time is fine for gaming, without ghosting and other problems.

Hell, I remember gaming on a 12ms gtg monitor (an old 17" when LCD's were 'new') and never had any issues. I cant see any monitor manufactured in the last 4 years giving gaming issues, regardless of quality or panel type.

I have 3 u2410's running in surround vision on 2 watercooled GTX275's and no problems running any games including Crysis,BBC2 , Black Ops etc plus I find the colour is way better than any of the 24 inch TN pannels that I have had.

Better than $760? Obviously you can't tell me the price, but is it a LOT lower, or just lower?

The PP pricing is higher than 760$. But with the amount I buy every year, I do get some nice prices on some components and sometimes it's just a matter to ask it!

That's a shame. Still doesn't make buying 2 more affordable :(

Just for reference, BestDirect has it at $770: Buy Dell Computer [U2711] Dell Ultrasharp U2711 27IN Widescreen LCD Monitor IPs 2560X1440 6MS 80000:1 DVI-D HDMI DisplayPort
