HDTV for gaming?

I was wanting to get a HDTV for gaming. What would I look for in specs to see if it would be good.

Would this be a decent HDTV for PC gaming?

Yes, I use a 37" 120hz Sharp Aquos for my monitor, it works great. That is a 240hz 10 bit panel with 1ms response, even better. Color is a subjective thing, go see one in action and see if you like the picture. I can't tell whether that tv is 3d capable though. Some 240hz tv's still only have a 60hz refresh rate and are not 3d ready. The 3d ready ones will have a 120hz refresh.

Not really looking for 3D, just a good HDTV that will look good when gaming. I should take my pc there and test it out on a floor model lol. I wonder if they would let me do that

I went from gaming on a 32" LCD 1080p monitor eyefinity/nvidia surround and i find i enjoy having more overall pixels and things on the screen then just a bigger screen to see things on.

If it's strictly for games/movies, then it'll be fine. I'd keep a monitor at a normal desk though to use for surfing and anything else. That's just my personal opinion though, you might not mind blurry/small text, and it depends on the TV too.

It may say 1ms but that is panel response time which is determined before post processing. Expect massive input lag unless the set has a game mode.

Well thx for the info. Im gonna do alot more research before I commit to buying anything. I hate not knowing much about something I wanna buy :p

I have a Sharp LC40LE700UN, and love it. Cruising the various forums for this sort of thing, I have heard it that 240hz boxes have to do too much and actually increase lag time.

AVForums.com Home has specific settings, lag times, etc for most TVs on the market right now.

I bought a Sharp LC-52E77UN on the recommendation from an avsforum test that it could be tweakable to minimal (1ms) input lag. What he didn't mention (of course this is subjective) is that the image quality is absolute garbage compared to my 2006 model 720P Samsung plasma.

I would say that from 2009 onwards there has been a drastic decrease in the overall quality of HDTVs. As I said in the review posted this morning, I think this is intentional in order to push people to higher priced products.
