My System Specs

Default DVI cable into LCD TV supposed to get sound also?
Ok I am new to the LCD LED Plasma tv stuff and am wondering something about Sound, I received my LCD tv yesterday and am using it as my PC monitor as well as My TV My PC is using the DVI cable to plug into the TV , I also have pluged in a sound cable into the back of the TV but do I actually need this or should the DVI cable coming from my Nvidea 285 card supply the sound?

DVI is just video.

HDMI is Video and Audio.

And if memory serves me correct, a GTX285 is going to need an internal SPDIF hookup to have sound outputted via HDMI assuming the card even has one.

ATI still excels in this area for having the most connectivity options on their cards without any internal hookups.

ati cards actually do audio using the supplied dvi-hdmi adapters. I have my benq 24" display hooked up this way and it outputs audio to the built in speakers on it just fine. I remember my 9800gtx had an internal dongle that had to be hooked up though.

gtx285 will output audio over hdmi using a dvi-hdmi adapter (sometimes included with the card) and of course with the spidif cable hooked to it as well
