O GTX480 SLI definitely won't have a problem with just one. My GTX460 SLI works flawlessly at the resolution.

this 27" isn't too much larger then my present 24" 1920 x 1200.
Jeez, I'd be glad to get a 24" at that res...

So guys, honestly, those huge IPS monitors with 6ms response are great for gaming?
I always thought I would have to stay with TN panels for gaming...

$700-800 is a lot of cash tho...I was thinking of going LCD TV for the price...but I like those glossy HP 27" screens...they look real nice.

I bought a Samsung 275t about 3 years ago, and never regretted it one bit. The difference between even a "nice" Tn and a good ips or even pva is incredible. Sitting ina dark room, if a white screen comes up it almost burns my eyes out its so bright. Love it. My only beef is that the bezels are really just too thick to bother with a multiscreen display.

The 2711 looks like a great monitor, and probably your best bang for your buck in a high end monitor.

That being said, I don't think I'd ever go back to a 16:9 monitor. Not a big deal for movies and games, but it makes a surprising difference for working with multiple windows. Mind you, if you want a really good big 16:10 monitor... You end up with a $2k Dell 3008. lol

I'm just curious as to why BestDirect is so much cheaper than Dell (DELL UltraSharp U2711 69cm (27). $757 vs $1249 is quite the markup.

Only thing I can think is because from Dell you have 3yr warranty and NCIX/BestDirect is only 1yr.

^^^ I actually tried hooking up my Toshiba 32" 1920 x 1080 to my Rig and to be perfectly honest.....I though the picture sucked. Perhaps its because I'm used to 1920 x 1200 but looked "blurry / fuzzy" and the colors looked washed out...hooked up via HDMI....hence looking for a real "PC Monitor".....

btw 6ms or even 12ms will be perfectly fine for gaming.....

Jdrom...I looked for the 27" @Dell and didn't see it available, only saw the 30" for $1299......
EDIT: Never mind you left th link!

Even NCIX is 1K $250 more then BD
NCIX.com - Buy Dell Ultrasharp U2711 27IN Widescreen LCD Monitor IPs 2560X1440 6MS 80000:1 DVI-D HDMI DisplayPort - U2711 In Canada.

Yeah damn....that really is a great price.....how do you like gaming on that Res Lowfat...as Sky pointed out..as in 16:9 vs 16:10.....I'm so used to 16:10.....decisions decisions....

jdrome17, the sale price was 880cdn durning september... and i heard that u2711 is frequently on sale anywhere since august...

and 6ms is enough for your brain/eyes to not able to tell how it fast... i believe 8ms is limited to our brain/eyes... but if you photo the monitor and you will able see how it is...

That's because TV's have far too large a dot/pixel pitch partly due to the relatively low resolution. Also the scalers/video processors aren't designed to handle small text.

I believe I get paid this Thursday though so I could buy it... Comes to about $870 with tax and insurance which is nearly half the price of the U3011. For that matter, I could buy 2 U2711s

Wow, that is pricey. You must be talking about some great seats, or are you going to have to get them from a scalper? I know I paid $250 for 2 tickets to a game here in Edmonton, but those aren't near the best tickets in the place.

Now back on topic, at that price I would say jump on it. Heck I would even consider getting two. But really is twice the price worth 3" and 160 pixels? I would say it isn't.

Hmmm, one thing, what about warranty are you still going to get the full 3 years you get with Dell? With Dell's warranty you are covered for 3 years and zero bright pixels. I'm thinking that it still isn't worth the difference in price but it is worth considering.
