Default Strongly considering this: Sammy P2770H

Hi,

I'm about to grab one of these Samsung P277H

NCIX.com - Buy Samsung P2770H 27IN Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920X1080 2MS 16:9 70000:1DC HDMI DVI-I VGA - LS27EFHKUV/ZC In Canada.

I would grab it locally for around $409. It's not like there is lots of reviews on this.
It's a 2ms refresh, 1080P that I'd be using for gaming. It would replace my trusty old Sammy T220.
I run a HD5870, so resolution is not an issue, I'll be playing FPS games with it, mostly COD-series (blackops coming), and BC2.

I would've liked to get a LED backlit or IPS, but gaming often calls for fast TNs and I'm not dealing with photoshop or any graphical app where color reproduction is the top priority...

Anybody owns this and car to comment?
Max PC tested the P2770HD (slightly different with slower refresh), but there is very few reviews on P2770H 2ms

another question now...at this price, should a fork a few more bucks and grab a LCD TV??? I guess TVs have worst refresh rate, so bad for FPS games right (ghosting, motion-blur and all that)?
I can mod my Angled desk, take the shelves off and create more depth to rig the TV further...

Jeez,

It becomes really hard to get valid info on monitors these days, reviews are hard to get by. Very few users own this monitor.

That trial and error thing, with my $$$, without enough reviews and no possibility to look at an In-store display model makes me want to wait and see...

It's just a simple big TN panel. Nothing special about it really. I currently own a 24" Philips 240PW IPS screen, and I can game just fine with it. We're talking MILLIseconds here, which is THOUSANDTHS of a second. I don't think our brain can react THAT fast.

Eyes are 8MS and over ( 8ms when you are on super speed pills ) so between a 2 and a 5 it's impossible for the human to feel the difference( some idiot will still say they can ) I would go with it since 209 is a pretty good price for a nice monitor.

And for the TV, the answer is no. For some reason most of the time image look sharper on computer screen...Dunno why.

the question may beg, one 27 incher or two 24 inchers?

either way for 3 more inches the markup is insane.
i wouldnt bite though.

Personally I believe 1080p at 27" is too low. But that's up to you to decide.

The 2048x1152 resolution on my Acer 27" is a bit more acceptable I'd say, but it's not exactly a popular size. Considering it's a TN-panel, not sure why Samsung (or others) never picked it up. Though I think it's been discontinued, or at least NCIX no longer sells it and Canada Computers had them on clearance a while back.

Well, if they're EOL (I didn't know), they are still being sold at NCIX.

NCIX.com - Buy Samsung P2770H 27IN Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920X1080 2MS 16:9 70000:1DC HDMI DVI-I VGA - LS27EFHKUV/ZC In Canada.

Samsung is still advertising these as NEW:

LCD - Monitors | SAMSUNG

Got you there...it might be like the Asus VW266H that is 1920 X 1200 in at 25.5 inch screen..Too wide the pixel pitch is...kinda defeats the purpose of a bigger screen if the res is too low so the size...
so that 27" monitor might be a little too big for the 1080P res...makes sense.
I might consider a 24" screen of better quality over QUANTITY...

Thanks for the input!

Look for some good special at dell. There is actually nothing interesting but few week ago I got a 23 inch with a 180$ rebate which is...awesome. And I can assure you this screen rock the house! Samsung 2494 are also pretty decent. keep us updated.

Ah, but it's perfect for people who need to wear glasses to read but refuse to. I have someone I do work for and every time I see the computer the text is larger and larger

Now the text is so big he might as well just surf at 800x600

Lol...you see that a lot in offices where most people have no clue about the notion of "native resolution" of a monitor...24" screen set at 1366 X 768 anybody? LOL. I know a guy like that at work...
