Default ASUS VW266H owners plz comment!

Howdy,

I'm interested into buying this monitor for 2 reasons:

1- It's running the 1920 X 1200
2- I might transfer my Sammy T220 22" to my wife, to replace her CRT.

I'm a gamer. I'm running a single HD5870. I play L4D2, Bad Company 2 and maybe the upcoming COD game that comes out in November if it's decent.

As I'm in the market for a 1920 X 1200 res monitor, my choices (within a $400 budget) are REALLY limited. I'm not considering ANY 16:9 monitors...
I'm not too keen on the 25.5" size (a little big, dot pitch a little wide), I'd rather get a 24", but it's not like there is a lt to choose from!

If you own the ASUS VW266H or seen one, please give me your opinion!

My gf owns one, she loves, loves the size of it and sees my 24in U2410 (IPS) monitor as smallish.
I, on the other hand, find the size is nice (not overly big compared mine), but the colors leave a little to be desired. I have played some SC2 on it and find it to be good at the very least.

The biggest problems I see with it are lack of height adjustement and while its not really a problem, lack of ability to pivot. Other than that it is a very good monitor considering it is a ridiculous price (got it for less than 280$ with taxes and shipping, after MIR, which I already received).

I have one an like it a lot. I bought it because like you I wanted 1920X1200 and I wanted a large display. It does not have the highest of quality picture but it more then makes up for it with its size and price IMHO. At the time I got mine from NCIX for $260 after MIR (which I did receive). I play BFBC2, Dirt2, Sniper Ghost Warrior etc and it looks great.

Like others said, like it a lot for the price. Size is nice, colors are not the best, but I didn't want 16:9 and as you can see, not many options out there.

Plugged into the XBox 360 also, sound is decent, nothing spectacular.

Playing FPS games and have no problems at all, all-in-all I like it.

Ive got 2 of them and plan on adding a 3rd. Best monitor you can get out there for the price, quality and size. I have zero regrets with mine in any shape or form. I think the sound is absolutly great for basic gaming needs and if your desk is in a steady traffic area where you dont want to interrupt people while gaming.

Thanks all for taking the time to reply.

So I get that it's a good gaming monitor for cheap.
Colors aren't great.
Well, is the image quality /colors are better or worst than my two years old Sammy T220?
I know it's hard to say. Maybe somebody can compare/comment?

Im not sure what everyone is saying about the colors, maybe my old eyes dont see it . But from my point of view everything is crisp and sharp looking.

Its like everything, its perfect until you compare it to something better. In my case it is my Dell U2410 (which is an IPS panel). The image is sharp enough, but the colors and color reproduction in particular is where the problems are at IMHO.
